On July 20, 1969, Jim Lovell sat at home and watched Neil Armstrong become the first man to walk on the moon. Jim Lovell gets the news that Allan Shepard got sick with an inner ear infection and that he was now going to be the captain of the Apollo 13 mission. So, Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Ken Maddingly went in to training for the mission to the moon. Then just two days prior to the launch date Ken Maddingly is thought to have measles.
