A detailed Summary of Cask Of Amontillado


The short story „The cask of Amontillado" was written in 1846. It is one of Poe`s „dark" stories which made him popular.

In the story there are just two characters, Montresor and Fortunato.

Fortunato is an Italian, as the reader learns at the beginning of the story. The reader also knows that Fortunato knows very much about vine. Montresor does so as well.

Because of some facts the reader doesn`t know, Montresor vowes revenge at Fortunato.

Montresor pretends to have bought a pipe of Amontillado and asks Fortunato to come to his cellar to look at it.
