The Cycle of Life
A young girl, perhaps seventeen, is sitting at her computer wondering, how did this 'cycle of life' begin? What is the 'cycle of life'? She then realizes that this was very much a philosophical question as well. How so? Life begins and goes on till we find our reason for living, until we find our reason for living in the next life. That was all she came up with so far. Let us further explain. Let's name this girl, Jane. As a child, Jane was quite an inquiring person. She asked, "What is this?" and "What is that?" and "Why do dogs bark and not talk?". As a child, of course she was told that dogs bark because they're animals, just like cats meow. As Jane gets a little older, maybe around six or seven, she began to realize the knowledge that she possessed. She saw that she can draw, write, read, ride a bike, and etc. Her favourite of all those hobbies was reading. It wasn't just story books. They were novels. Novels that filled her mind with endless stories about the world that she lived in. Throughout the rest of Jane's elementary years, she decided that her life was like a character in a novel. Books that she read were about regular people just like her. About teenagers falling in and out of love. About teenagers with family
problems. About teenagers who forgot about their school assignments and hands them in late. Though not all these stories are good, they still inspired her. Jane decides that she's still very young and yet has much more to explore in the world. There always seems to be endless questions and endless answers to everything. That's what she realized through this 'cycle of life' theory. She also realized that she now has other things to worry about like handing in a philosophy essay on time. Jane's life is about to stop right now because the author has come to end its story. A question popped in Jane's head. What if she was left to be raised in the jungle as a baby? She would grow up communicating to the wild nature and would be able to see their view of life. Now that she thought about it, it was amazing how so many other creatures lived on this planet as well and how little some of us think about it. She could even categorize each substance that existed on this earth and break it down into a scale. First there would be non-living things and living things. Then living things could be broken down into creatures and plants. Then plants could be divided into animals and humans. And it just keeps going! This was why Jane never believed in destiny. She never really knew how much of a philosophical term that could be till high school. She always heard the word in romantic phrases like "Being together was our destiny!" and so she then thought that it was good thing. But now that she's much older, she thinks destiny and fate are for people who decide to just flow with life as it goes. Jane on the other hand was never happy with life once high school started. People say to her "You are just a teenager
