Friendship
They were best friends. The first time they saw each other was on the first day of school in Kindergarten. They sat beside each other and that was when they figured that they had a long journey together. Nina and Tanya shared everything they possibly could, from color pencils to their happiness and sorrows. There was not a single person in Jamestown School that did not envy their friendship. Their friendship was like an ocean that could never dry, like a mirror that could never shatter. Elementary school to junior high to high school- both of them lived for each other. Nina would not go to movies without Tanya while she would not go to a party without her. It was one soul living in two bodies. But sometime in their lives, the ocean of their friendship dried, the mirror shattered, and the soul died. Elementary school- they were immature but still shared a lot in common. Both had the same favorite color and the same favorite teacher. They sat beside each other in all their classes. Both of them thought that boys were stupid. Having so much in general, both had their own individuality. Nina was very talkative in class. She had deep blue eyes, and straight black hair. Nina was a little plump and shorter than an ordinary 3rd grader,
while Tanya stood thin and tall. She had dark eyes, dark curly hair, and dark skin. She hardly spoke in class that portrayed that she was shy. Most people made fun of them and called them "Laurel and Hardy", but this did not affect their friendship. They fought a lot on who would brush Barbie's hair and who would dress her. And every time they did, they said that they would talk to each other ever again. But just after 5 minutes they would be playing and sharing their Barbies just as nothing happened. After all, a successful relationship consists of love, care, and fight. They help each other realize how much the other person means to them. When they were in 3rd grade, Nina moved to an apartment two blocks away from Tanya's house. Both were very pleased. Now they were allowed to sleepover at each other's house. They used to invite their other friends too, and have the best time they ever could. In the summer of 6th grade, Tanya's elder sister got married. Once she moved out of the house Tanya felt all alone, and wanted someone to fall back on. Nina fulfilled the duties of a best friend and was there for her whenever she needed her. That one summer made these two best friends "better" Tanya- as soon as she got out of college she found out that she had blood cancer. She moved out of town to get cured but she lost hope everywhere she went. She knew she was just going to leave this world without enjoying it. But how could she enjoy her life when she lost that in college? She heard about Nina getting married and happiness filled her heart. She was satisfied that at least one of them headed to a life filled with happiness. She had no idea how Nina spent her days wishing to see Tanya. Tanya wanted to write a letter to her apologizing, but fate did not allow her. She was hospitalized and within couple of weeks she passed away, giving Nina no chance to say all what she wanted to. The soul that was once shared by two bodies, was now not in the world and was neither up above the skies. It was all lost. When Nina heard about this she could not mutter a word, could not shed a tear, and could not move. The guilt did not leave her body. She wanted to leave this world and go up to the skies and just tell her once that she is sorry. All pitied her, yet they knew what she was hoping for was impossible. After all, the ocean DID dry and the mirror DID shatter. The never-ending friendship DID come to an end. Junior High- Nina and Tanya both got their periods. After that they started acting mature. They would not whisper in each other's ears or bring their Barbies to school. Nina was still the same-round, short, yet very attractive. Tanya gained a lot of confidence and was not as shy as she was in elementary school. She was taller than most of the boys in their class. They sti
