Native American

Native American stories reflected their lives and beliefs vividly. Through stories Native Americans could explain natural phenomenon such as earthquakes and thunderstorms. They would often blame these events on gods that were “responsible.” Creation stories are also common among Native American storytellers such as “Stone Boy”. For better explanation they would often add human traits to animals or Natural things that otherwise would not be able to talk to move. By personifying things they could add dialogue to animals talking with trees, or the sun talking to farmers. This gave them more room to expand their stories and explanations of events.

The stories told by different tribes were often directly associated with their every day life. For example the Iroquois tribe, since they were a tribe based around agriculture their stories often explain bad growing seasons or harsh winters. Some stories that refer to
