Throughout Sophocles' play, Oedipus Rex, destruction, gloom, and devastation transpire. Fate and Oedipus are intertwined. The fate in which Oedipus was born, is now his greatest enemy. Throughout all his pain and suffering, Oedipus acquires temperateness. Because of Oedipus' inquiry into his heritage, Oedipus now knows the agonizing truth of who he is and where he was from.

Unfortunately, Oedipus is born with an atrocious malediction which is to parricidally kill his father and to incestuously copulate with his mother. Oedipus' father, King Laios, tired to prevent the prophecy from becomming true, by consigning
