Professional athletes have a profound role in society. They are seen as modern day heroes. These superstars are idolized and enjoyed by many aspiring young athletes. The sole purpose of a professional athlete in society is for entertainment. The business of sport is that of entertainment. A heart surgeon also has a phenomenal role in society, but this role is often over seen. Surgeons and doctors are heroes, and perform real life miracles everyday. It includes fame and fortune, and seasonal work that pays millions. Professional athletes have been graced with an extraordinary gift, which is very hard to acquire. It is important to note that it takes dedication and hard work to become a professional athlete. However, it must be stressed that an athlete's dedication and self-sacrifices cannot compare to that of a physician/surgeon.

The youth of society today grow up idolizing athletes that make huge plays to win championships. Kids want to be able to run as fast as Donavon Bailey, pitch perfect games like Roger Clemens, dunk like Michael Jordan and win Stanley Cups like Steve Yzerman. You rarely hear of a kid that wants to diagnose a rare disease, develop a cure for cancer, or perform su
