Death is a Harsh Reality

A detailed Summary of Death is a Harsh Reality

It was a rainy Friday night when my family went to church, having not a clue what was in stored for us. It was then that I first heard about Vasiliy. He, handsome, six feet, eighteen-year old, with sparkling blue eyes, was in a hospital, unconscious. Nobody knew what happened to him but the thought of death never crossed our minds. He was a great friend of mine, who I trusted and respected with all my heart. He always made me feel special whenever I was around him. He made me feel worth living on earth. Everything we've done together; from throwing snow balls at each other to have serious conversations, I will always treasure deep inside my heart.

As I walked into the church, most of the people were already gathered for the Friday's service. Everyone was whispering of something not yet know to me. The atmosphere inside the room was as if something tragic has happened; I sensed it in my heart. I could not hear what everyone was whispering about, but I could feel that something was wrong. I did not feel like asking anyone to inform me of what happened, but sat down with little patience and waited for the pastor to announce it.

The pastor's first words were, "Brothers and sisters, let us thank our gracious Lord that we

As I stood watching his body be lowered into the grave, I couldn't believe that just a while ago he was alive and talking to me. Whenever I flip the pages of my album and a picture of him pops up, it brings me back the painful reminder that he will never join our group, and I will never again see those sparkling eyes. The harsh reality in life is that death doesn't wait for people to get old to take them, but young people should always be prepared to die!

The next day, at about seven o'clock in the evening, I went to the store by myself to buy flowers for Vasiliy. While picking out the right flowers, all I though about was Vasiliy. I was puzzled of how he, unexpectedly, got ill. The realization that he might die, sent a shock through my mind. I went home to join my family and from there five of us went to the hospital. There we were at the hospital's reference desk. They told us where to go, and when we got closer to the room he was in, we saw the door know turn. The door opened and a nurse came out of the room. As she walked out, my brother asked her, "Is Vasiliy Moskolenko in this room"? Chills went through my body when I heard her say, "Yes, he is; but you are going to have to wait for about five minutes until the nurse is done giving him the medicine". We went into the waiting room. My heart beat faster and faster as we waited for the nurse to call us in. I longed to see my friend; what has become of him? Thinking of him made me start weeping silently. I tried to tell myself that it was not real, but just a dream, I wake up and Vasiliy would be by my side.
