The Chrysalids

A possible future for humanity in a cruel, unjust world was presented in the novel The Chrysalids writtin by John Wyndham. In this future world there is a society called Waknuk, and it should be condemned. It should be condemned because the people that it consists of are arrogant, narrow-minded, and Paranoid.

This society should be condemned because it produces arrogance. The people of this society, which sprung up from the aftermath of what appears to have been a large scaled nuclear war, believe that they are the the true image of God. They believe that every person that does not fit the exact, supposed definition of what a man should look like is ungodly; thus, being the spawn of the Devil. This, being as it may, has caused these people, in thinking that they are the divine image, to think that t


The society of Waknuk, as described in The Chrysalids, a nightmarish look at the future, should be condemned. It is a society based on arrogance, narrow-mindedness, and paranoia. These traits will only lead to the society's downfall through a serious event which could have a great impact on other societies and generations to come; thus, such a society should be condemned.

The society of Waknuk should be condemned because of its paranoia. That is their paranoia of "Satan's doings". To emphasize this paranoia is their burning of deviated crops, that is crops of which a few of the plants grown show to be deviational, and their sterlization of blasphemies, or people/babies who do not fit the definition of the true image.
