Lord of the Rngs

Critical Evaluation of The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

Peter Jackson, the movie picture director from Heavenly Creatures and The Frighteners, has done it again. A New Zealand born native has made some of the most goriest pictures that were ever produced. He has transformed one of the most intriguing fantasy books, which was always a dream of his, into a three part movie trilogy. The outcome of this burdensome task is a superb film. He had the right mix of team, talent, financing, and location to make a story so fanciful come to life. His incredible intuitions and skills were seen thoughtout. It is a wonderful, eye-catching, film. The screenplay by Jackson was remarkable, given how much material he had to discard and condense in order to make the transition to the screen, while still remaining true to the original. As best said by himself, "I wanted to take moments from the book and use modern technology to give audiences nights unlike anything they have experienced before." His talent exceeded anyone's belief that such a masterpiece could be created with such brilliance. This movie rates among one of the top three of all time.

New Line Cinema and Wingnut Films Production presented Lord of the Rings: The Fellowshi

The combination of the majestic and mysterious scenery of New Zealand, and the use of digitally enhanced imagery gave a true feeling of being in the realm of Middle Earth. The greatest attention was given to the smallest of details of the set designs, costumes, and props which created an even greater enchanting fantasy. The magnificent challenge took a team of production staff of over two thousand, and twenty-six thousand stand-ins, to achieve this epic. There was an abundance of special effects throughout the movie to keep the audience enthralled and mesmerized.

In a small village called the Shire lived a young Hobbit named Frodo. Gandalf the wizard set him off on a quest to return the "One Ring" to the Mount of Doom, the only location where it could be destroyed. On the way he gathered eight associates to be known as "The Fellowship of the Ring". They were faced with many challenges in their path of righteousness as evil constantly chased them. There was not only external evil, but also internal wickedness influences caused by the ring. The fate of the fellowship was yet to be seen as the movie ends with the journey still in progress.

Anyone who is not knowledgeable with J.R.R. Tolkien's work of art may soon find themselves pleasurably lost in it. The explanation of this larger-than-life epic can not be grasped in a few hours. It does not have to; the good versus evil is always bursting out onto the screen. With a PG-13, rating audiences of almost any age can go see this adventure. There was not any harsh profanity, explicit sexual preferences, or adult content. There were a few battle scenes which draw a cringe, but nothing from which to turn your head. Without exception, eyes will be focused on the screen. The movie won more awards then can be written here, but the most notable were thirteen Oscars. This made history, because no one film at any given time, has ever
