A Violent Society (media violence)
The American society, it seems, is often depicted as violence portrayed at its best. As a people we obviously do not condone or accept this form of action yet we know it is among us. Everyday we see or hear about an evil occurring, whether it is a hit and run, a robbery, or a murder. Because of the consistency of these events in our country, many people have sought to answer the question, "Why?" Why do people become so infatuated with wrong doing that they perform such violent crimes? Some have come to believe that our own entertainment industry is at fault. More often than not, in television and cinema there are themes and messages involving violence. Can these enjoyable experiences make us feel as if we need to act them out? I believe not. It seems that the average person who enjoys this entertainment may come to appreciate violence, yet still will never think of acting as a part of it. Although I will also suggest that violence on television can and has pursued those who already have the sort of behavior and mind-set to produce cruelty. I believe that in our society there is too much violence when there should be none. I don't accept it, but I know it. I also believe that the influence of television makes us wish a lot of things. Wishing that people were hurt however, is not one of these. There will always be some that condemn anything related to real life violence. To those who appreciate such things, it will simply be something else to experience. However, until it is illegal to create or watch staged violence, most will probably go about the usual; whether they like the pleasure, the urge for their crime, or the fact that one day it will go too far. ard about violence, then we got to see it, and now we get to control it in games. Although I stand at the opinion that violence on television and movies does not cause people to act violently, I do in fact hope that the creative minds that form this entertainment won't push it to the point where it will. There was a time when watching a T.V. show or seeing a movie where someone is violently affected was shocking to its audience. Slowly violence made its way into our T.V. sets and when it became an average scene to see a murder or shoot out in a film, we thought our need for this was fulfilled. It was not. Not only did more and worse come, but with it came a new experience of violence, the video game. Now we could obtain the ability to create violence in another place.
