Recognized by many, Dan Gable is considered to be the greatest wrestler in U.S. history. He is known by many to be a good coach, wrestler, and friend. He was also known as the nation's most successful wrestling coach. Gable led Iowa to 21 titles in 21 years; they won the Big Ten every year since he started coaching at Iowa. He coached 152 All-Americans, 45 National Championships, 106 Big-Ten Championships and 10 Olympic medalists including 4 gold medalists. Gable is a brilliant wrestler. Dan Gable was born on October 25, 1948 in Waterloo, Iowa. He started his wrestling career in junior high school. He then attended West High School. While at West High School, Gable improved his wrestling skills; he went on to win three straight championships in a row. Gable continued his wrestling career at the college of Iowa State.
