Neighorhood
A detailed Summary of Neighorhood
If I told you the town I lived in would, you believe that would you believe everything I wrote was true? Would you say this to yourself, "I would have to see this to believe it?. Most of the time when I mention where I live people say things like "where", or "that sounds far away", or even go as far to say "you live by all dem white people. Well the city I live in call Steger. It's in between south Chicago Heights and Crete. Some have heard of some have not. When you ride past it looks like a nice, quiet, peaceful place to live. But remember the old saying "looks can be deceiving", and I'm here to tell you that they are.
When you drive down west 34th street you see old houses, one complex of apartments, one convenience store, and one gas station. The rest of west 34th street is mainly forest preserves. But you really want to concentrate on is the complex of apartments. As you travel by you look and think to you self I might consider living here and keep rolling by. Even if you were to ride by each individual building you wouldn't notice that anything was going on. But do me a favor and try ringing each doorbell and going through each hallway. The buildings near where I live don't have the proper lighting and sometime

Outside near the playground the grass is hardly ever cut and it takes at least a week for trash to be picked up. In the summer time so many little children are stung by bees while playing because of spilt pop or juice. We don't get passes to go in the pool we have to pay 2 dollars every time we use it. In the winter time this section is the last to get shoveled and to get salt thrown down. Sometimes when they give tours to people who may consider moving in I just want to put a big neon sign across my chest that says, "STOP DANGER AHEAD." But that's none of my business they too will soon find out. It's a shame for someone to pay so much rent at a place like this and get treated this way. No wonder why they accept any kind of credit to move in.
s you wonder what's out there as you walk to you car at night. The carpet is old and vintage and is wearing out in some places. There's loads of smashed pop cans, old dried up chicken bones, and heaps of torn up trash. You may think and say " don't apartments have clean up crews?" Well yes there are, do but are rarely seen. Like a lot of other things such as security guards and important bulletins that are supposed to be hung in every hallway. The only time you do see them is if they're hanging late rent or eviction notices on your door. And it seems like its done with such enjoyment. There posted on your door and written in bold red ink "RENT LATE" or "3 DAY NOTICE." If your not home many people walk by and know all you business. To me this is pretty embarrassing. Most of the cars are either old or not too new. Security guards are supposed to be on twenty four hour surveillance, so why are so many cars on this side broken into? The police are never call for things like that. But if your music is to loud, or you get into a dispute with a family member be ready to here a knock that says "this is Steger PD we're responding to a complaint". They ride past late at night and run plates and stick tickets on your car if they are parked the wrong way. You are harassed if certain bills are late such as cable or telephone, because we are only allowed a certain phone and cable company. They call up the two companies and have them come or your house and disconnect you service.
Inside in the apartments is another story. Once again the carpet is very old and stained. There are tons of cracks where the wall meets the ceiling. The tile on the floors are a very cheap brand, and if you mop to many times it starts to peel up. 2 out of the 6 windows that
