The Economic Role Women had in Early Civilizations
A detailed Summary of The Economic Role Women had in Early Civilizations
Women in the early civilizations such as Egypt, Mesopotamia, and the Greeks played a very important role in their economies. The economies of these early civilizations were very important for their ultimate survival. Women participated in the shaping and creation of much of these societies life. Economically, they contributed to things such as the textile trade, preparations and food gathering, prostitution, and even the mothering of their children. Women in these early times were not allowed to do much, but the things they were allowed helped their economies much more than most would think. As time would go on, women received a little bit of a higher status and with this status their overall meaning and ways of life increased.
In early Mesopotamia, women played a significant role in the overall food productions. The productions include the food preparation, gathering, carrying, and presenting. Women in this civilization gathered and kept the overall supply of the food for their families. For it was in this civilization that the women had been given their first purpose in life. In a man's world, the food department was the women's duty. This duty helped maintain and keep the lives of these people healthy. It was in

the Greek's society that women obtained thing such as baskets, pantries, and even large containers meant to secure the food supply in case of the terrible storms on their island. These things must've been created by the women, because they were the experts in this trade. This trade was a very important part of their life. If you are human, either male or female, you just cannot survive without food. Women kept their families healthy, strong, and well nourished by supplying, preparing, and gathering this key element of life.
So, as you can see women played many parts or roles in the economics of their early civilizations. These civilizations include early Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece. These women went through many difficult times to achieve their statuses. These women in general were not rewarded at all for what they did. Overall, these women helped their societies grow, and survive more than anything else. It was in these early times, that the women were gathering food, preparing it, brewing beer, textile trade, prostitution, and raising or birthing the children of their families. The accomplishments made by these women were astounding. At times when all around them was a man's world, these women stuck through it and did what they knew best; raising, nurturing, and letting the family grow. Economically, the women of these times played very important roles, like no other.
The last important role I believe women played in the early civilizations was the in the area of prostitution. In today's world, prostitution is looked down upon and not valued at all.
