Security vs. Rights

Ever since the events of September 11th, government officials have taken away many "suspected" terrorists to undisclosed locations. The Bush Administration is in wrong doing by not granting constitutional rights to the 1,200 foreign nationals held in secretive detainment; especially issuing no warrants during their arrest. These rights are set forth to all people on American soil, as is the moral and law abiding thing to do. Granting these people their rights is morally justified. These "material witnesses" are nothing more than your next door neighbor, John Snackle, who works at the supermarket, and not part of a hidden terrorism cell. It is elementary to argue the way these detainees were captured is unlawful. Amendment IV of the Bill of Rights clearly states that "unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause". The Fort Wayne Gazette reported that "congress passed some of the most frightening elements of the assault on civil liberties when it rushed the USA Patriot Act into law just weeks after 9-11". The Patriot Act was a government bill passed so that either government persons could bypass arrest with warrant or gain warrants with almost no evidence. These warrants hold up no better than Mcdonald's paper money at a Swiss bank. These slips should not even be considered in the class of a warrant. These detainees, which were selected based on far-flung claims, were never presented any "real" warrant by government officials when being seized. Does this mean the government has the right to deny our basic liberties? If so what will happen when they ignore all rights posed in the Bill of Rights, total martial law or a new Big Brother? In the future, police officials will have no problem shooting you right on the spot for running a red light, because you have no rights. Living in the United States, no matter what circumstance, allows you to have the same rights as a person five times as wealthy as you, of the opposite sex, or of a different ethnicity or religion.
