Bread and Roses
A detailed Summary of Bread and Roses
In the film Bread and Roses, we see a real humanistic story of an immigrant in the United States. For me, It represents the life of most of the immigrants who are working and living in this powerful country right now .There are many themes in this film that I can write about, but the main ones are the exploitation and the low wages of the immigrants in their jobs, the decisions they have to make about something important, the right to freedom of speech, and the respect to people's job. For me each character represents these themes in the film. In this essay I want to explain my point of view about these themes in this great film .
This film give us an idea of the types of jobs in a big city like Los Angeles, also you see the exploitation and the low wages that immigrants receive. A good example is Maya and the other janitors. Do you think that the janitors receive the same benefits and wages of a person who works in a office?. Well I don't think so. That is w

The film demonstrates us that there is not a right to speech as we want and also there are people that don't respect humble works. An example in this film of right to speech was the strike that claims benefits for the janitors. But do you think the police accepted the strike?, well they didn't. They suppose to keep the protestant people safety, but I don't think that to keep them safety is by beating up them. I mean that 's police abuse and we can't accept that in our society. Also I see people that don't have respect for the janitors or any kind of humble job. For example, when Maya and her friend were cleaning the elevator, some office workers passed next to them and they didn't even greet them. For me that kind of people can have a good job and money, but they don't have a good education and good manners, so in my opinion they are less than janitor workers. This movie explains that we have a right of speech and also respect any kind of job because all job is honored.
