In the third chapter called The Communitarian School, Etzioni talks about a lot of problems that deal with the school. In the beginning he talks about how children come into the school with their characters under developed and without a firm commitment to values. He says the basic reason is that families have been dismembered or the parents are over worked or consumed by other concerns and ambitions. As a result the children tend to be poor students. If their lack of character and moral values are not attended to while at school, they will graduate to become bad workers and citizens.

He says that kids should not work not places like McDonalds because it does not help them lean anything because it is such an easy job where you do the same thing over and over again and your job is written out minute by minute. He has that kids should be working in places that make them think and have to make choices and learn from them choices. Not a place where all they are getting out of working is a paycheck. If you keep kids out of places like fast food industries then they will make it harder for them to have help and raise the money of the paychecks. However the kids should not jut look at money, they should also look at the job and ask themselves, "What am I really getting from having this job beside the paycheck?"

Moral education is known what is right and wrong. There is no written law but it is morally wrong to do certain thing. For instance rape and murder, there is no law against it however it is morally wrong to do it and if you do you will be punished. Kids should be taught these moral rights and wrongs as they grow up so that they will be better students when they go to school.
