The specific topic that my group chose on non renewable resources is endangered species. There are a lot of reasons why some species become endangered. One of the reasons is because of habitat destruction. Our planet is always changing, causing habitats to change or modify. Natural changes tend to occur at a slow pace, causing only a little impact on individual species. When changes occur at a fast pace, there is no time for a species to react to new circumstances. This can create horrible results, and for this reason, rapid habitat loss is the primary cause of a species becoming endangered. The largest force in rapid habitat loss is humans. Almost every region of the earth has been affected by humans.
Another reason is the introduction of exotic species. Native species are
plants or animals that are part of a specific area. They are adapted to their environment and are used to the presence of their native species. Exotic species are species that are brought into new environments by human activities. They may not cause any obvious problems and may eventually be considered as natural as any native species in the habitat. Exotic species may also disrupt delicate ecological balances and may produce a lot of harmful consequences. Some of the consequences are that it could change the habitat and create greater competition for food. Species have been biologically introduced to habitats all over the world. The most chaotic effects have occurred on islands. The introduction of insects, rats, pigs, and other different species have caused the endangerment
