The giant telescreens found in every citizen's room displays a constant stream of propaganda designed to give the illusion that the Party’s failures are in fact successes. The telescreens also monitor behavior. Everywhere they go, Oceania’s citizens are continuously reminded that the authorities are watching them; “‘Big Brother Is Watching You’, the caption beneath it read.” The Party undermines family structure by recruiting children into an organization called the Junior Spies, which brainwashes and encourages them to spy on their parents and report any instance of disloyalty to the Party.
