1984
One of the many underlying themes of George Orwell's 1984 is the dehumanization of a population. In the case of Oceania, the powers that be strip away the humanity of its citizens and seek to turn them into non-thinking and non-feeling drones that are dedicated and devoted to the state. Through psychological manipulation; physical control; information regulation; and the deconstruction of language, the party is able to operate its government how it sees fit. The Party uses psychological manipulation, by bombarding its subjects with psychological stimuli designed to replace any and all independent thought. The Party also uses physical control as a means to dehumanize the citizens of Oceania. In addition to manipulating their minds, the Party also controls the bodies of its subjects. The Party is constantly watching the body language of its citizens. They look for any sign of disloyalty or unrest, to the point that even the slightest spasm or twitch could lead to an arrest. A person's own nervous system becomes his greatest enemy. Just as a person's unconsciousness, might be their greatest enemy. Even while sleeping each person is at risk of arrest. The Party forces its members to undergo a daily rit
