He was afraid that France would find revenge for the defeat to Germany which happend in 1871. He then decided to keep France isolated and without allies. He especially did want the French with Russia. The French needed to be allies with Russia. An alliance between France and Russia was finally formed in 1894. In 1907, the triple Entente was formed. This was an alliance between Russia, France, and Great Britain. These are only some of the reasons why World War One occurred.
