The Story of a Jew
In the blackness of the darkness we were all us Jews were brought to trains with no food, no clothing, no blankets, no nothing. None of us knew what was going on and everyone was crying. We were on this train for days with the slightest morsel of food. We still didn't know where we were headed. This story is hard to tell because of these shadows of memory that are running through my head. When we got off the train a vague horror swept among us Jews, it was dark and nobody could see, the intensity of the darkness grew stronger and stronger and I was separated from my father. As my father left me he said, " everything is going to be alright, I will be back to get you, I love you". That was when I realized something was wrong. When we finally stopped walking two huge gates were opened. All of us were instructed to take off our clothes and head towards the showers. I did as I was asked. When I got to the showers they were so slippery, I almost fell. After I got out of the shower I went over to a man dressed in uniform and he gave me old dirty clothes. We all had to stand in a line and people tattooed numbers to our forearms, my number was 234521. After that I was separated from my mother and taken to a cabin. Inside of the cabin we
The next morning we were given our bread and this time a little bowl of soup. I was so happy because I hadn't eaten in a while. I let it last in hopes it would seem like more and I would become full. After we ate we were put to work. I met a friend she had big, ravenous eyes. Her eyes were so beautiful. We said hi but didn't talk much, because we weren't aloud. We began talking more and more, but soon enough she became to weak to work so she was taken to the pit. I came to this room with many pieces of glittering steel. The steel weighed so much and we had to carry it from one building to another. I don't know what they were using it for, but I kept my mouth shut and did the job. re many bunks attached to the walls and I was given the top. When it was time to sleep, I couldn't I had no hope, no courage that I was going to survive here, soon I fell asleep. About one hour later I was awoken by the screams of a man " role call, get out of bed and get outside now". We repeated that process everyday at this time, and then we were given a tiny morsel of bread, but nothing to drink. My mouth was burning with thirst I tried to let the bread soak in my mouth to let the bread last longer, but I was so hungry. After we ate we were all given jobs, my job was to carry logs, I carried about 200 logs that day and by the time I got back to my bunk I was exhausted. When I got there I instantly fell into a deep sleep, not worrying about the next day. Role call happened and then we were given our jobs, no food was given out that day. My job was to carry more logs. As I was walking figures of fiends were spread across the ground, it was a horrible site. I came up to a circular pit, this was calle
