In the short story "The Birthday Party" by Katherin Brush, a husband overreacts when his wife tries to surprise him with a birthday cake. The couple went out to dinner in a small restaurant to celebrate the husband's birthday. The wife decided to surprise the husband with a birthday cake, but the husband was and proceeded to hurt the wife's feelings. The inconsiderate, self-centered husband hurt
