A Nearly Normal Day
It started out as an almost normal, ordinary summer day except for the fact my Aunt and cousins had come to Beaver to visit. They had used to live here in Beaver but had recently moved to Idaho. It was late in the day and I was sick with anxiousness because we had planned to go see them at 5:30 and it was now 4:20. My cousins had decided to stay at my grandmother's house for a few days, who lived at the very center heart of Beaver. It became time to go with five minutes left so my mom gave me her keys and I went to go start the car. Our dog, Yoshi, had been put into the dog run with our other dogs. The dog run was a great idea my mom had had when we were planning the construction of our new house. It was a small, slab of cement that was slanted slightly down hill. We had put a doghouse in it and let the dogs just live in it. Anyway, as we started to pull away from the house, a friend of my dad's was pulling in with a large, shaggy dog riding in the back. Of course, the dogs in the dog run went crazy with their barking and jumping and what not. I just ignored them as we drove away since the dogs are constantly barking at anything that drives by. They did seem a little more rough than usual this time, but it was a big dog, so I th
ought they deserved to be barking twice as loud. It was probably the cause of the accident waiting for us when we got home that we hadn't paid any attention. So then after a well spent day over at my grandmothers house we had enjoyed a good party and were coming back to our house when two of my cousins, Brenden and Eian wanted to com and spend the night. So we packed them up and took them with us. It was dark by the time we finally got home much later than we would have liked. We took Yoshi inside and Brenden and Eian, along with Yoshi, went in my room and started playing video games. It was my turn to play and Eian was petting Yoshi when suddenly he cried out "she's bleeding." We saw Yoshi; she was a little sluggish and disoriented from getting drugged to fall asleep. She had a plastic shield around her head that resembled a satellite dish. Her eye had been pushed back in and her eyelids sewn shut; the eye still bulged from the swelling. He told us to keep her for a week to see if the eye would heal. This operation he had done had cost us two hundred dollars. He told us that the theoretical reason for her accident was that when my dad's friend had come over with that dog the other dogs must have fought for position to see the dog and bit Yoshi's face, popping her eye out. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, we found the vet. The special veterinarian for this job had graciously and fortunately come to help even though he didn't work during the night. He told us not to worry and to stop by later. So we took half an hour to go get something to eat at Denny's to calm our nerves. Afterward w
