Abortion
Picture, if you will, a woman, raped by an unknown assailant, discovers she has a child from this twisted individual. Meanwhile, at a doctor's office, a doctor must sadly inform some patients their baby will critically injure the mother upon delivery or the child will require extensive and expensive medical care due to genetic defect. Across the nation, these and others face hardships involving their babies and turn to one glimmer of hope, abortion. Abortion, an easy and safe procedure, encompasses nothing more than dispelling an unwanted or impossible-to-care-for child from the world before they must suffer living in our world. Abortion should be acceptable in this country because it is socially acceptable in other countries, abortion in the true sense of the word is not murder, and all women should have the right to make their own personal choices. Societies in other countries have accepted abortion within their structure; why can we not as well? If the woman is little more than a teenage girl then where is the sense in forcing her to carry a child that she cannot possibly raise? Or, perhaps the woman cannot provide for the baby's needs efficiently due to money constraints leading to hostilities between mother, family, and quite possibly friends. These situations could not be classified as truly just. A woman needs to have the choice to unlink the fetus from the world if taking care of the fetus presents an impossible task for her. Supposing that the woman will also suffer physically or mentally as a result from delivery, the health of the present must overtake the health of the future and consequently, sacrifices must result to ensure her safety. Compelling women to destroy their own lives to bring in another yields no sense because then, the mother cannot take care of the child capably, and the child will most likely suffer greatly. If the possibility exists that she may avert this tragedy, the mother can and will take action. Even if the mother simply wishes to rid herself of the c
