The setting of the film is a place called Middle Earth. Middle Earth is a place inhabited by all sorts of creatures such as Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Hobbits, Orcs, and Wizards. The place where the movie was shot is actually New Zeeland. The film has kind of a countryside/ forest look to it. It also has great mountain ranges in the movie.
