The children could have been learning about paragraph format and topic sentences in language arts, but have a short review resulting in better processing from their social studies textbooks!

Helping students process information is just as important as teaching it to them. Children will remember information better if they apply it. Anyone can memorize facts and then regurgitate them back for a test. However, as soon as new material is presented the information is lost.
