Teenagers depression.

All people in our world have been depressed sometimes. But what do humans know about it? Brown (1996) said that depression was always overlooked in teenagers since children were not always able to express their feelings. Brown also added that depression is exaggerated mood changes in its duration and intensity. So depression could affect everyone in different ways. That's why we need to know symptoms and causes of depression and also how to treat this kind of disease. Depression has a variety of symptoms such as prolonged sadness (lasting two or more weeks), sleep disturbance - waking up in the early morning or finding it hard to get to sleep at night, feelings of hopelessness and pessimism, feeling of guilt, difficulty in making decisions, getting tired very fast, and crying without any reason. But the most common is a deep feeling of sadness. All this kinds of symptoms could happen because of the three main causes: social factors, external factors and health causes. These causes are very important and serious for teenagers and this type of things are not only words. Some teenagers become depressed for a combination of reasons where as others can be depressed by a single cause. Others become depressed for no apparent reason. Regardless of the cause, depression needs to be diagnosed and treated. First problem is a social life. Teenagers with difficult personalities are more prone to depression. Depression occurs more commonly in teenagers who are sensitive and emotional to feelings that upset them. Perfectionists, who set high standards for themselves and other people, and those who find it difficult to adjust their ideas and standards to changing circumstances, are depressed as well. (Carver J.M., 2000). Social life is a life with other people with different personalities characteristics and behavior. Also social factors could be attributed school, family and friends, people whom we love. Depression can begin due to misunderstanding with parents or friends, or due to poor results in school. Sometimes it is difficult for some teenagers find new friends and they become depressed. Loss of a family member can cause a very deep depression and usually teenagers need to seek help from relevant authorities.

But sometimes relatives or parents could help you more because they love you and understand more clearly. Teenagers can spend more time together with their family, develop understanding, and should be prepared to listen without judging and discuss their problems without hiding.

Unfortunately, depression can not be controlled at any period. Sometimes it can happen even in the early childhood. It can be caused by health factors. Health factors include problems such as Biochemistry reduction in brain. The result of this is decreasing mood and different motivations. Also Genetics plays a big role in depression. It means that depression can be inherited. For example: "A child with one parent with depr
