Wrestling Match Descriptive Essay

I realize what I had actually gotten myself into as I sit on the mats that I had grown to know so well. I would have to endure, another time, another six minutes of incredible brutality. As I sat there eating my sandwich that I had prepared the night before, I think about how my team, and more importantly, how I would do in my wrestling match later that night. I had dedicated the last several months to this sport by watching my weight and practicing several hours after school and on the weekends. My last match had taken a lot out of me, and giving my neck a burning pain for the next couple of days whenever I moved my head. Nevertheless, I still managed to win my match despite my neck that had been twisted around like a bottle cap. Wrestling matches are very intense and winning is worth the effort.

Our team captain yells at us to start warming up, and we slowly stood and start to make our way out of the gym unhurriedly. The room was dark and murky, the lights were low, and as my team walked into the shadows, I joined them. The captains started to jog around the room to get their blood flowing, and gradually, like lemmings, followed their example. On the walls of the gym are names and port

After my match my coach told me I had been a little sloppy, but still aggressive, which was a good thing. His mouth kept moving but I did not hear any of the words given that I was very worn out and just wanted to rest. I had won and that was all that mattered for the moment. The match was rather intense for me, and as I slipped my jumpsuit back on, I knew that in the end, my hard work had paid off.

I peeled myself off of my chair and started to get psyched for my match by thinking about the different moves that I would need to use in my bout. I started jumping up and down in my shiny red varsity jumpsuit to get my blood moving again. I looked over to the other team and saw my combatant getting up from his chair across the room. As he started to stretch, I noticed he wore a hooded sweatshirt, that only revealed his lips and a sharp, pointed chin. I slowly took off my suit revealing my singlet, or wrestling uniform. I looked down at the black, tight-fitting spandex with a large H on my chest and hoped that it would not fail me now.

The first man up to wrestle was Chester, a tall, scrawny, weak kid who reminded me more of a starving, homeless puppy than a muscular, powerful wrestler. His opposition was just the reverse of himself; a brawny, hulking mountain of a man whose thick neck and rippling muscles seemed to intimidate Chester. Chester looked back with a grim face, I could see the innocence and panic in his eyes. The high pitched screech of the referee whistle blew and the two took hold of each other with vice-like iron grips and started to shove each other with all their strength. For almost a second I thought Chester might have a chance at winning until his opponent shot at him so quickly that all I saw was a blur between one blink of my eye. Before Chester even realized it, he was on
