Anne Frank

Most people know the story. It's the story of a young girl who, for two years, was forced to live in secret hiding with her family and a family they were close to. While in hiding, she wrote in her personal diary. Years later, after everyone in the two families died, Otto Frank published the famous "Diary of Anne Frank." Anne Frank and her diary make one of the most influential and well-known remembrance stories of the Holocaust.

Annelies Frank was born on June 12, 1929. She was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She had her parents, Otto and Edith, and an older sister named Margot. In 1933, Adolf Hitler came to office in Germany. Otto Frank moved his business and family to a place that seemed safe for them in Amsterdam, Holland. They settled their lives in newly built apartments. Anne was just like every other girl and went to school, was a good student, and had many friends ("Anne").

In 1940 the Nazis invaded the Netherlands. Otto Frank was well prepared for something like this. He had already been transforming his annex into a secret hiding place, just in case something like this were to happen. They still lived in their regular house until Margot got a letter saying she had to work in a labor camp. Otto Frank moved his f

The most recent copy of Anne Frank's diary was published in 1995. This one, like 1986, has all the entries in it. This one is updated from the original diary written in Dutch. That means it's more precise on the accuracy of the diary ("Diary").

He first had it published at Contact Publishers, but only 30 percent of the diary was published there. The publishing company wanted to keep certain parts out about Anne's sexuality. Then Otto Frank didn't want them to publish the parts when Anne is talking negatively about her mother. About 1,500 books were published at first. The book took off after that, so copies were made in German, French and English ("Diary").

amily into the secret annex, as well as some Jewish family friends, the Van Pels ("Anne"). They could bring very few possessions with them, so it wouldn't look like they just packed up and left ("Diary"). One of the things Anne brought was her diary. It was a diary she had received for her 13th birthday, just weeks before moving into the annex ("Anne"). She named her diary, "Kitty" ("Diary").

Anne Frank is truly one of the most influential people in history. Through her diary, we can see how brave and strong her family had to be. We also get to see how the Jews were treated
