Report: Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce
The Title for the book I read was Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce. This title obviously suggested untamed Magic, which was present in the main character Veralidaine Sarrasri, also known as Daine. Daine lives in a fictional land of Tortall, during the Reign of King Jonathan the 3rd and Queen Thayet. She works for Onua Chamtong, who is a top ranking officer with the Queens Riders, a group of horseback riders who perform tasks for the Queen. The Central conflict is that Tortall is at a pseudo-war with a neighboring island named Carthak. Carthak's emperor Ozorne opened a special realm that let all immortals, such a griffins and dragons, into the real world. It wouldn't be long before the young Riders enter a long battle and Daine's special powers are the only thing that can save them. The story's theme is about growing up and using your strength and powers to there fullest. And also the theme is accepting who you are as a person before you run into battle. In the beginning of the Book, Onua Chamtong is looking in a market place in the town of Cria when a young girl comes up to her and asks for a job. The characters face a lot of conflicts with fighting the immortals. And also they face conflicts with that big siege and with themselves. They all had to rise to the occasion, and they had some bumps along the way. angling the ponies. After a big attack by half humans half birds called Stormwings, they meet the most powerful wizard in all of Tortall, Numair Salmalin, and the king's champion, Alana of Pirates Swoop. During the trip, Daine receives a strange dream, where a badger who knows her father tells her that she does have special powers that allow her to communicate with animals and these powers need to be utilized. Daine and the others get back to the riding headquarters in Corus. Daine got a full time job as an instructor, teaching the new riders. And also she meets Queen Thayet. But soon after, trouble befalls them. The Stormwings could contact Daine through her special powers and they came after her and the others. After a close shave with the stormwings, Daine decides that she needs to learn about her magic. With Numair, she learns how to harness her powers and to magnify them. After a couple months of Training and teaching, Daine and the young rider group travel to Pirates Swoop, Alana's town, for summer teaching. After they arrive at the estate of Baron George of Pirates Swoop, Alana's husband, they are held under siege by the Carthakis. The townspeople and the riders immediately start to attack the Carthakis. But, The Carthakis cast a special spell that disarms all mages except for Daine. Daine Finally uses her magic to send her animal friends to attack the Carthakis. They end up retreating and Daine saves the d
