The first time I heard of Fa Mulan was at Sunday Chinese school when I was about ten years old. After learning about so many great men in Chinese history, like Confucius and Mencius, It was wonderful to learn about a heroic, courageous, and young Chinese woman. I was amazed at how Mulan was able to impersonate a man and fight in a war so that her father did not have to. In 1998, when I heard that Disney was coming out with a cartoon version of Mulan, I thought it was great!
