Lord of the Flies

The novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a very valuable piece of literature. It is told in the 3rd person point of view. Golding wrote this book to trace the many problems of society. He wrote the book to show that political systems cannot fully govern society without considering the natural defects of human nature.

The setting is a very important asset to the Lord of the Flies. It symbolizes a small version of the real world. The tropical island has a beach, where Ralph and Piggy find themselves after the plane crashes, and further inland is a dense jungle. This island is a perfect setting for Golding to prove his point that morals come from our surroundings, and if there is no surrounding civilization around us, we will lose these morals.

Ralph symbolizes democracy and order throughout the novel.

His glasses are a very important part of the novel, as they are stolen away from him and used over and over to start fires.

welve as well, with a skinnier build and red hair. He also has a very freckled face. From the beginning, he seems to have feelings of anger and savagery. At first, he is the leader of the choir, which later becomes the hunters. Finally, his savage personality and his conniving ways allow him to become the new chief over Ralph.

I thought that this book was very interesting. I did not realize how important it is to have government and order in the world. It never occurred to me that the world would be complete chaos if there were not some type of government. I did feel that the novel was very violent and brutal, with Simon and Piggy's death. However I believe that those were two very important incidents that helped to prove Golding's idea of savagery. I also think that the sy
