Well, if independence is the question then it is necessary to focus on what had been happening in the colonial period in the Americas, Haiti, and France. With the development of the European colonies, there were also new systems of government. Although the colonies belonged to the European countries, the leaders who actually governed the region were located in the New World, far away from Europe. As such, little by little the leaders of colonial America realized that they had different interests from those who established the rules for the region. On this date in 1804, Haiti emerged as the first independent black-led republic in the modern world. At the end of the Haitian Revolution, was one of the most successful slave rebellions in history. To Haiti's people, taking the pressure off them of slavery and French colonial rule, the revolutionaries of Haiti inspired people of African descent around the world, particularly those who remained in slavery. This shows how Haiti influenced the ideas of others globally. Haiti is the only country that differs in the way of going about their independence.
