Topic Response Paper on Terra Cotta Warrirs

I chose the Chinese Terra Cotta Worriers, which was done in the year 210 B.C.E. by over 700,000 workers foe Emperor Qin of the Han Dynasty.

This work can only be described as massive. It appears to be a huge room filled with life size clay Chinese worriers with each warrior being different and unique in it's own way. Weather it is it's facial hair or expression, clothing, or weapon. All of the warriors seem to be facing all in the same direction as if they were marching into battle. The room that they are all in is huge with tall rock walls. This room almost appears to be a tomb or a place of great importance.

These Terra Cotta Warriors were made in 210 B.C.E. out of clay standing each in the range of 5'8" to 6'5" tall. They were made for the burial of Emperor Qin who reigned from 259-210 B.C.E. during the Han Dynasty. He was a Great Emperor who was successful in many battles, which eventually lead to the unification of China. But with his success came many enemies. In his life there had been three attempts to assassinate him so for his own protection in the after life he ordered a massive clay army be built for him in his tomb. It was said that Emperor Qin wanted to be guarded for eternity by a replica of his very own army. This took 700,000 workers over 20 years to build.
