Vegetarianism

A detailed Summary of Vegetarianism

Written Opportunity: Justifying and Evaluation

When I think of a lifestyle where I would not be able to eat meat, it frustrates me. I don't think that there is anything wrong with eating meat. I intend to eat it until the day I die. I also believe that a good portion of vegetarians do it either out of boredom of for attention.

Holidays are a great time to come together as a family, talk about what has been going on in your lives, and eat an animal someone else killed. Sounds kind of weird when you put it like that doesn't it? Well, that's what we do and there is nothing wrong with that. I myself do not enjoy killing an animal, but if I was hungry enough I know that I would be able to do it. It's just like when I go fishing with my family, you have to bludgeon the fish you just caught to death so you can eat it later. You do it as quick as you can because you don't want to see that animal suffer. It's what people do, and why we have the teeth we do. Does that mean that killing animals to eat is wrong? No, I don't think so.

Cattle, pigs, and poultry are the holy trinity of meat. Just about everything we eat comes from these little guys. But a lot more comes from them too; we

use them to make paper, shoes, pillows, rope, dog food, and ink. These are just a few of the products that are helped by the portions of the animals that are not eaten. I feel that we are doing a pretty efficient job in the way we are handling the farming of these animals.

I have thought long and hard about how this semi-vegetarian idea has such a following and the only thing I can come up with is: attention. The people who are calling themselves this are looking to have someone take notice in how they eat and ask them why they do what they do, giving them a chance to talk about themselves. Think this is just a load of bunk? Then I'll join all of them. I am a semi-vegetarian; I won't eat meat except for beef, pork, poultry, and fish. I refuse to eat Otters, Monkeys, Cats, and Mink. It's immoral to eat these animals. Now how much sense did that make?

Do I agree with child labor? No, so I don't buy products that I learn use child labor. Do I agree with the tobacco industry? No, so I don't buy products owned buy their corporations. The dollar has the potential to change everything in America! So why is it ok for a vegetarian to call themselves a vegetarian, or semi-vegetarian (which is not a vegetarian), and buy or use products that involve the killing of animals? Is it better to let the meat of the animals go to waste because someone says that eating meat is bad? If this is so, I would rather be wrong than irresponsible.

If you have read this and think that I am just ranting, you're half right. This is a rant, but it's an O.K. rant. Think about all the good that comes from the farming of animals. We use animal products in so many things. T
