A drama, or tragedy is said to be when there is peace at the beginning of a movie of play and it ends in war, or sadness. Since this movie follows that exact format then you could say it is a drama. But to me there are so many more reasons why this movie was so dramatic. For example in the movie on one random day the Guidos's whole family is taken onto a train with thousands of other Jews to a concentration camp where Guidos's wife is separated from her entire family not knowing if they are alive or dead. Everyday she has that same constant worry, that her son could just die and she would never see him again. Guidos also had that same constant worry of his wife and son disappearing from him forever, not to mention the constant worry of him dying and never being able to live again.
