Buffalo Bills

A detailed Summary of Buffalo Bills

Throughout Buffalo history many controversial calls and unusually poor performances have kept Buffalo teams in all sports from completing their journey. Many have made references to a so-called Buffalo "Conspiracy Theory." We all know it would be pretty unbelievable for referees and league officials in two or three different leagues to be conspiring against Buffalo...but the following examples may make you believe a higher authority doesn't want Buffalo to succeed.

The first example Buffalos misfortune would be in Super bowl XXV when Scott Norwood's kick sailed wide right. There he stood, waiting for the snap. Hundreds of millions were watching across the globe. In the Tampa Stadium, 73,813 fans were holding their breaths in silence. The ball was snapped and Norwood made his approach to what was going to be the most famous field goal attempt in history. The ball was caught and put down properly by holder Frank Reich and the stage was set. Norwood kicked the ball and followed through, watching the ball sail into the air and towards the goal posts. For eternity, the ball inched closer and closer to the posts, and it appeared to be starting the usual curve that would make it good. When the ball w

as just about to reach the posts, it straightened out and sailed just wide of the right goal post. Norwood's miss not only cost him his job but made him partly responsible for Buffalo's worst sports disaster. The magnitude of Norwood's missed kick overshadows the fact that there were two crucial, undeserved penalties assessed to Buffalo which prevented them from scoring on the previous drive. Nonetheless Norwood became the scapegoat.

In June 1999 during game 6 of the Stanly Cup finals Buffalos dreams of a championship were again shattered amidst controversy. Game six was the second longest game in NHL history. During the third overtime Dallas Stars forward Brett hull scored to knock Buffalo out of the playoffs. Seems like a cut and dry deal doesn't it? Well when Hull got the pass for his game-winning goal he kicked the puck to his stick and tapped it in to beat a sprawling Dominick Hasek. The problem was that video replay clearly showed Hull's skate in the crease, while the puck was not, which is illegal in the NHL. Obviously, the goal shouldn't have counted. But NHL bigs said that because Hull had possession of the puck, it didn't matter that his foot was in the crease. Nevertheless, the Stars immediately piled over the boards in the customary celebration as the Sabers looked on dumb-founded. Controversy again surrounds Buffalo's second worst sports disaster the 1999 Stanley finals.

The four straight super bowl losses, the controversial goals in the 1999 and 2000 Stanley cup playoffs, Super bowl XXV, and the 2000 AFC wild card game give plenty of evidence to many angry fans of the existence of a ring of conspirators, det
