History of the Islamic Faith

About the year 570 a child named Muhammad was born and would become the Prophet of one of the world's biggest religions. He was born into a family belonging to a clan of Quraysh, the ruling tribe of Mecca, a city in the Hijaz region of northwestern Arabia. He was considered to be God's last and greatest prophets by the Muslims. The Islamic scripture, the Koran, resembles Judaism and Christianity, which greatly influenced Muhammad. It is believed to be the last word of Allah and the basic source of Islamic teachings and law. His visions along with a variety of issues such and creed, morality, history, worship, knowledge, and wisdom are in the book. Faith is not enough Islam has five pillars which must be followed by every Muslim: 1) confession of faith in God and in Muhammad as God's messenger 2) daily prayer at the five appoi


nted times 3) fasting during the month of Ramadan 4) paying an alms-tax and giving charity to the poor and 5) pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca and its sacred shrine, the Kaaba. Muhammad had a religious experience that changed the history of a large part of the world. He heard a divine voice, which was believed to be the voice of Christian angel Gabriel that tells him Allah is the only god. Muhammad was also told to accept the name of "Prophet" and convert the Quaraish. Him and his followers overtake Mecca, the Kabah, Arabian tribes central place of worship was made the main shrine of Islam. After Muhammad's death his father-in-law Abu-Bakr and Umar comes up with a way to keep religious and political stability. He accepts the name of caliph, deputy of the Prophet, and begins a military exhibition to enforce his authority ov
