Bill Gates

William Bill Henry Gates was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He was a skinny, shy and awkward teenager. His family had a good history in business, politics and community service. His father was a prominent Seattle attorney and his mother served on charitable boards. Young Bill was very good and talented at math and logic. No one could ever know that someday he would come out to be a natural leader and a future billionaire.

In elementary school he passed all his friends abilities at almost any subject. After his parents noticed his intelligence they decided to enroll him to Lakeside, a private school which is rich in academic environment. At age 12 Gates was first introduced to computers at this school. At that time the computers were in the size of a room and were run by scientists. The following year Gates wrote his first program with his friend called Paul Allen, it was a scheduling program for the school. After a while Gates and Allen founded a company called Traf-O-Data, which analyzed the city traffic data.

In 1973, Gates entered Harvard University as a freshman intending to be a lawyer like his father. G


Microsoft then continued on concentrating on the software market. In 1986 after the company became public Gates became a billionaire at the age of 31. After introducing Windows (1993) it was selling a million copies in one month. The upgraded version of the first windows, Windows 95 sold about 7 million copies in six weeks. In 1995 the direction of the company was changed to focus on the internet.

Bill Gates built an enormous 40.000 square foot technological home on Lake Washington and married Melinda French, a marketing executive at microsoft, in 1994. The couple has three children. A daughter named Jennifer born on 1996, a son named Rory born on 1999 and another daughter named Phoebe born this year. Meanwhile he increased his charitable giving especially on scholarship programs and over $750 million dollars to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization.

Apart from Bill Gates computer life, he is an avid reader and enjoys playing golf and bridge very much.
