Conflict Theory
The economic structure of a society determines all other structures in the society. While the other structures may have an impact on one or more of the other structures, the economic structure is the only one that affects all of them. Capitalism leads to Protestantism, and slavery leads to a version of Catholic/Protestantism. Capitalism gives us free mate selection while slavery sharply controls it. Economic structures always include ownership of the means of production. Without any ownership there would not be an economic structure. The three factors of production are land, labor, and capital. The means of production is the most important factor in the specific system. During slavery, the means of production is labor. During subsistence agriculture, it is the land. Change is natural to society; change is revolutionary in nature. When there is a revolving change, the owners become workers, and the workers become owners. There is always a class wanting change, which makes it natural to society. When the workers do not like how things are going, they may go on strike, hoping that this will make some change. If all the workers in the society would join together in one union, there would have to be a definite revolutionary change. There are 1.5 million owners, but there are 280 million workers. The interests of each class are in conflict with the interests of the other class. The owners want to continue to own; the non-owners want to become owners. Owners want to put other owners into the non-owner class by buying owners.
