Whos Comin Home?

When deciding which article to respond to for the purposes of this assignment, I began reading each of the essays listed. Open-minded and prepared, many of the readings I came across either infatuated my delight or disappointment. However, none of which gave me a greater sense of personal relation and inspiration than that of Natalie Angier's essay, Nothing Becomes A Man More Than A Woman's Face.

In accordance to the assignment, I must say that I unequivocally agree with the author and her sources. I interpreted Natalie Angier's writing as being mostly a factual reiteration of evidence found in studies. I identified her writing as being primarily informative and even educational. I felt as if she agreed with the studies conducted and data collected to the point of reciting it in the form of an essay. Moreover, as she had cited many different sources of information such as the Scottish and Japanese study of facial attractiveness, as well as the move to investigate the opinions of hunter-gatherer tribes (evolutionary twist) in the Amazon, I would argue that she agrees with the reports as well.

I felt drawn and interested to her essay for

The essay made it evident that the old fashioned stereotypical face of a desired man (square face, big jaw etc.) was not as obvious anymore, as indicated in recent studies. "When it was found early that there was a preference for feminized male faces, nobody believed it". (pg. 619) The passage continues, "the preference for a feminized face keeps coming up". (pg. 619) Essentially, the author is implying that faces perceived as being more feministic in males, yields greater attractiveness by the viewers or by the "eye of the beholder".

Nevertheless, the essay was very informative and insightful. On more than one account was I able to correlate the findings of the author as well as the studies to what I notice in society. More and more do I notice stronger feministic characteristics in the faces of men whom are enduring longer and more prosperous relationships with their significant other. The same, as noted in the literature, goes for the faces of women. Many of my buddies have girlfriends with strong but yet some subtle feministic features on their faces. None of which can I say are incredibly attractive, but very distinct and honest

Some common words found in the essay are:
Scottish Japanese, Natalie Angier's, , feministic characteristics, pg 619, nose heavy brow, prow nose heavy, prow nose, natalie angier's, heavy brow, facial attractiveness, facial characteristics, square jaw, preference feminized, nose heavy,
