Dreams Of Mice Of Men
A detailed Summary of Dreams Of Mice Of Men
"There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not." For those that do not dream will never live their life as it can be, not as it is now. The book Of Mice and Men tells the story of the lives of two men George and Lennie in search of work. Along the way, many exciting and sad events happen, the only things that may keep them alive are their friendship, theirs dreams, and even their struggles. However, in the end, it is all done for the better. For many such as Curley's wife, Lennie, and Crooks, who have the utmost of dreams never fulfil these dreams because they have many barriers they could not overcome. "Dreams show you that you have the power..." the power to overcome these troubles,
but unfortunately for Curley's Wife, Lennie and Crooks they did not have the power that one can hold to accomplish their dreams.
In the beginning of the book, Curley's Wife comes off to be a very independent, tough, all around housewife. As the story continues, more
information is revealed to understand her more clearly and understand what life is really like for her. In fact, life for her is nothing like what is seems. Just because she is a

white man. Besides the fact that Crooks has a different skin colour he still has his dreams and wishes. Crooks one and only dream is to have friends and for people to respect him for what he is. When talking to Lennie he says gently, "...A guy goes nuts if he ain't got nobody. Don't make no difference who the guy is, longs hes with you. I tell ya, I tell ya a guy gets too lonely an' he gets sick." (Pg. 72)
women does not mean she is not apart of the world. It does not mean she does not have her dreams and it does not mean she does not have her wishes. The one thing she really wanted was to become a famous actress and play in big movies. "I coulda been in the movies, an' had nice clothes---all them nice clothes like they wear. An' I coulda sat in them big hotels, an' had pitchers took of me. When they had them previews I coulda went to them, an' spoke in the radio, an' it wouldn'ta cost me a cent because I was in the pitcher. An' all them nice clothes like they wear. Because this guy says I was a natural." (pg.89) Instead she married Curley. Life with Curley is definitely much more different than living like a movie star. The rugged outbacks, and living on ranches. Also another cost of marrying Curley means a life of loneliness. Learning to become a friend for a friend. She said softly to Lennie "...I get lonely
