Robert Frost's Terrifying Universe

Robert Frost wrote many poems that gathered interest in readers' eyes and minds. Many of the poems made his universe seem almost terrifying. Robert Frost's universe is a show of how terrifying real life is.

Death is one part of the terrifying universe that Frost shows everyone. The death in his poetry demonstrates a realism in life, something that can't be prevented and something that can't be changed. "Home Burial" is a poem about the death of a son. The mother grieves deeply over such pain that she has to leave the house to talk to others, due to her husband not truly being there for her. The father tries to convince her that he is there for her, but he has an almost non-caring attitude towards the death of his child, almost forced if anything. That kind of attitude shows how the death of a child can affect the minds of parents and sometimes others. The mother seems upset about the fact that the father dug the hole for the son with a non-grieving look to his face. A cited passage from the poem will demonstrate the biggest problem between the two.

You make me angry. I'll come down to you / God, what a woman! And it's come to this, / A man can't speak of his own child that's dead.

Pain and death were two of the most commmon things talked about in Frost's Terrifying Universe, buy fear is another less talked about. Fear should be the number one subject to talk about in a Terrifying Universe, becaue fear is what makes up the word Terrifying. Course in Fire and Ice, fear takes a whole new meaning. Fear narrows itself down to two sub catogories, love and hatred. "Fire and Ice" demonstrates how people believe the world will end. A lot of people fear the world coming to the end, because there is a lot of hatred in this world causing just ourselves to destroy each other from existance. Frost says in the last part of his poem, I think I know enough of hate / To say that for destruction ice / Is also great / And would suffice.(788)
