Hopkins delivers a sonnet of fourteen lines jam packed with similes, rhymes, metaphors, and alliterations to explain how wonderful God is. The first line of the sonnet tells with authority what the entire poem is about. Hopkins uses the word "Charged;" to show that God is powerful and such greatness is not to be taken lightly. The title of the poem is "God's Grandeur" and the use of alliteration is evident in the first line when the author uses the term "The Grandeur of God". It is as though Hopkins is saying that no matter which way it is said, God is still great.
