Born April 17, 1981 in Winfield, Ill. He selected Colorado over Northwestern,
where he originally signed out of high school; he had selected the Wildcats over Boston
College and Michigan State as a prep. An older brother, Levelle, played fullback at
Northwestern between 1995 and 1998 for Gary Barnett.
This year he received plenty of preseason accolades, as he was selected as a
third-team All-American by Athlon, along with being a near unanimous first-team all-Big
12 choice. The Sporting News ranked him as the No. 7 running back in the nation, with
Lindy's Big 12 Football tabbing him No. 14 and Phil Steele's College Football No. 17 on
their lists. He had a tremendous spring, as he was named the recipient of the Fred Casotti
Award as the outstanding offensive back, in addition to being one of 15 players to earn
honors on the prestigious spring Victory Club. He rushed for 150 yards and two scores on
just 15 carries in the spring game. He stands 48th on the all-time rushing yards list (946)
and is tied for 38th on the scoring chart (96 points) going into the season.
