5 Most Important Events in History

Essay #1. For all practical purposes, the Renaissance / Early Modern Period is distinguished from other periods in European history almost entirely in intellectual or cultural terms. As far as larger historical patterns are concerned, the period is more or less considered as playing out what had been set up in the later Middle Ages. The Italian Renaissance was seen as a "prototype of the modern world" and changed the way people looked at themselves as individuals instead of just masses. It also changed people's way of life, in more people during this time realizing that new scientific values were replacing traditional religious beliefs, which is an important aspect of the Renaissance, as it shaped the world of today and of tomorrow.

The real importance of the Renaissance was that it was the beginning of a transition that led medieval times into a more intellectual and modern society, one of the many influential factors of our society being the way it is today. Helping us to gain interest into ourselves, and the human body, has led to discovery of the way the body functions, which in turn helps to develop more advanced medicine and surgery. Other advances of this period included political writin

Essay # 4. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ in 30 AD was a key event in history. Jesus is the major focus for the religion of Christianity, one of the many dominant religions in our society. I felt that this event was important enough to be one of the five most important events in history, as Jesus is said to be God's son and the murder of God's son is an important event. This event impacts all people in today' s society in the holiday of Easter, which symbolizes Jesus rising from the dead after the third day he was buried. This event is also an important one because it is the basis for the most read book of all time, The Bible. Jesus' followers recorded his teachings and religious stories in this book, much similar to that of other prophets such as Muhammad of the Islam religion.

Essay #2. Confucius laid down a pattern of thinking followed by more people for more generations than any other human being on the face of the earth. No matter what religion, no matter what form of government, the Chinese (and most other East Asian civilizations) and their way of thinking can in some way be shown to have Confucian elements about them.

Essay # 5. King John of England agreed, in 1215, to the demands of his barons and authorized that handwritten copies of Magna Carta be prepared on parchment, affixed with his seal, and publicly read throughout the realm. Thus he bound himself but his "heirs, forever" to grant "to all freemen of our kingdom" the rights and liberties the great charter described. With Magna Carta, King John placed himself and England's future sovereigns and magistrates within the rule of law. The Magna Carta had a very large impact on England, Western Europe, and the world as a whole. The reason is because it limited the power of kings and rulers throughout the world, by giving part of the power back to the people through a constitution. This also paved the way for future constitutions in a way that it gave a set of rules which rulers and the lower classes had to follow. The Magna Carta gave birth to new types of government, and may have led to democracy in most of the world. For example, in the case of he Magna Carta, King John ruled England with an iron fist. He tried to accomplish much with the little he had, and it put pressure on his people in the ways of taxes, and his way of justice. In January of 1215, a g
