Kurt Cobain

I agree with the writer of this article, Mr. David Samuels, that Kurt Cobain was the "greatest rock star of the '90's". When it comes to the statements that Kurt was in terrible marriage and was unhappy with then wife, Courtney Love, that is just speculation. My major disagreement with the media, fans and critics alike, was that he hated the record industry and the fame. I feel that he acted as though he was against fame and success, but deep down he enjoyed the fame, money and recognition.

The author of this article hit many good points on how big of an influence Kurt was for generation X-ers. His songs did have meaning and substance through all the yelling and screaming. Kids related to what he sang about. Kurt's music and lyrics


Success. But I feel he is just going along with what has always been said since his death. I think there were things much deeper that took Kurt to where he ended. I don't however feel his marriage had a great deal with it. I think his wife actually kept him hanging on as long as he did. In the end though, she just wasn't enough.

Kurt was a great singer inspiration of the 90's and I know he would have continued to lead the way through the 21st century. This was the first celebrity death that actually affected me. I was angry at him. I didn't know why he did it, but I have never followed suit with the critics and other fans when it comes to believing he was unhappy with his success.
