Weather Forecasting

These are only a few weather forecasting methods, and there are many more such as climatology, numerical weather predicting and even some old folklore methods. After keeping our 2-week forecast record(C, 1) we found out that it is impossible to always predict accurately but with today's technology we can sometimes come close. When predicting weather many things come in to use such as computer programs, weather instruments and even history records. As we found out weather is unpredictable.1 Here is what we found out when we tried to forecast.

When we made our weather forecast we used a new method for each day. The first day we used the trends method. The trends method means taking wind speeds and distance measurements and pressure currents and


The second day we used the persistence method of forecasting. The persistence method means today's weather equals tomorrow's weather.3 Our Thursday prediction wasn't as accurate as Wednesday's was. The temperature was seven degrees off and there wasn't anywhere near to three to six inches of snow. There was a temperature of 27° and just brisk flurries of snow. We feel the reason for the inaccuracy in this prediction was the fact that the persistence method doesn't take nearly as much consideration to wind speed, storm conditions, precipitation amounts and high and low pressure currents as the other methods do.
