Compare and Contrast Primal and Archaic Religions

What does one think, when one hears the words Primal and Archaic? Does one automatically assume they are completely the same? Most people draw the conclusion they are because they both are cosmological religions and both have cyclical view of the seasons. However, the Primal and Archaic religions are indeed very different. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the differences between two religions that resemble each other greatly. This paper is going to compare and contrast their cultural beliefs, their Historical period, and their social structure. The first paragraph is going to concern their cultural beliefs, the second about facts of the historical period, and the third their social structure. Finally, the conclusion is going to answer the question about what makes these religions similar and different.

The Primal and Archaic societies revolve around the same cosmological ideas. There deep connection with nature makes them somewhat similar, but their culture beliefs on the other hand make them quite different. The Primal religion believes in an "Ultimate Reality" and that there is a chosen one called th


deities in a cosmological attempt to renew the universe, avoid darkness and avoid celestial monsters coming down to eat all humans. This religion worshiped actual nature gods, not just nature like the primal religion did. Some examples of the gods they worshiped were the god of rain, the god of the sun and many more.

Also, this society worshiped anything in nature because nature was believed to have unseen spiritual force or in other words mana. Humans on the flip side were believed to have little mana because they could not control nature. On the other hand archaic societies believed in priests. These priests prayed to the earth and were mediators of the sacred. The purpose of the priest in the Mayan and archaic society was to personify the
