Censorship is the examination of material for objectionable matter. It is used to keep material from influencing people the wrong way. Different people often see things differently. By pressure, political and social systems are suppressing creative thoughts. This is being brought against the educational system, radios, internet, television, theater arts and visual arts. Usually the attacks fall under the categories of language, sex, drugs, society and race, and inappropriate adolescent behaviour. Some believe that it is a necessity to keep the children safe by not exposing them to such elements, as replication of behaviour is feared. Others argue that censorship prevents students from seeing "the real world". The world is filled with obscene things and most parents try to shield them fr


Freedom is essential to the democratic way of life. I see freedom of expression, thought, speech, etc. as an inspiration to a diversified society. We must be open and non-discriminatory. We do not live in a perfect world. We are a world filled with sex, racism, violence, etc. However we have a social system that frowns upon subject matter that breaks the social taboos. For example, frequently debated and highly discussed in the art industry is pornography. Art is an expression of the imagination. An artist must have the liberty to challenge the boundaries in order to flourish. However, society's interest in protecting the children overrules, and the censors become protectors. On the other hand, the necessity for censorship in a society could mean that it is not confident in itself, and it's structure.
